A couple of months ago, I posted a picture of a teeny tiny origami crane that one of my students made.
(I'll post it again because it's just that incredible...)
Well, on Tuesday at Okawame Jr. High, I was flipping through a children's encyclopedia--looking at all the pictures--when I came across this photo...
"Sugoi, ne!?!" (Great, huh!?) *internet photoI went on-line and learned that this giant bird (120 ft. tall with a wingspan of 215 ft. 8 inches) was folded in Seattle on November 10, 1999.
Not to be outdone by America, folks in Maebashi, Japan, folded the world's largest origami crane two years later. Unfortunately, I can't find a web photo of that crane, but I can tell you that it had a wingspan of 256 feet! (Not to be confused with having 256 feet, haha.)
And you thought Big Bird was a big bird!

That is cray that there is one that big! I wonder how long it took to fold this? Have you learned how to make one yet?
That is one huge crane.
